Description

Leslie Lowbush Organic Blueberry Plant

This wild, lowbush blueberry was originally collected in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, on Mount Arvon (the highest elevation in Michigan and part of the Huron Mountains). The weather along the southern shores of Lake Superior can be harsh, and exposure on the mountain increases the hardships for plants. Leslie came from a robust population of lowbush (V. pensylvanicum) blueberry growing in this beautiful, yet challenging location.  Berries are sweet, plentiful, and of the wild size (small).  Height in cultivation is about 12-16″ tall and very compact and bushy.  Beautiful green foliage in summer and deep burgundy red for fall color with leaves held for a long time in the fall.  Tolerates partial shade but will be most productive in full sun.  Selected and originally propagated by Dan Hartmann.

Hardy in USDA zones 3-7
