Pearl Organic Southern Highbush Blueberry Plant
Pearl was released in 2010 by the USDA-ARS in Poplarville, MS. In southern states it will ripen well before rabbiteye type blueberries, usually in mid to late May. Bred especially for the deep south and upper Gulf Coast, Pearl has shown fine production and winter hardiness further north into the East and lower Midwest. Fruit size is medium to large, with sweet flavor and high sugar content. Yield will be between 8-12 pounds of berries at maturity. Here in our zone 5b/6a, Pearl ripens in late June to early July. Plant stature at maturity is about 5′ tall and 3′ wide, with strong branches. I will be tracking production in the oncoming years. I am impressed with Pearl’s performance and growth here on our farm the past 3 years.
Hardy in USDA zones 6-9a
