Twilight Blackberry
This blackberry was released in 2020 and is the cumulative work of the USDA-ARS and OSU-AES in Corvalis, OR. The breeding program for Twilight and its sister cultivars combined parents from both eastern and western blackberry cultivars. This provides it with a wide growing range, adaptability, increased yields and improved sweetness (always one of the top goals in blackberry breeding today).
Twilight has larger berries than other semi-erect types, ripening to a deep black color and great sweetness. Berries are large and firm, easy to handle with little bleeding; which makes them great for roadside stands and markets. Twilight is a semi-erect cultivar that is amenable to trellising, similar to Triple Crown and Natchez. Yields can range between 10-15# on trellised plants. Twilight is thorn-free, and ripens earlier than Triple Crown on our farm.
