Organic Blueberry Starter Collection #7: Wild Lowbush Blueberries
All plants in this collection are 1 to 1.5 years old, quart size, potted plants (not bare root) that range in height from 5″ to 12″ depending upon cultivar. USDA Zones 3b, 4, 5, 6, and 7
These are true, wild, lowbush (Vaccinium pensylvanicum) blueberries selected by Dan Hartmann, one of the most eminent breeders and producers of blueberry plants in the United States. These cultivars originated from hand selected wild plants from populations in Michigan, and have only the wild attributes that are so enjoyed by folks fortunate enough to live near wild populations of blueberries. All plants at maturity are 12-20″ tall, very compact, and yield small, wild flavored blueberries. They ripen in the early summer.
